Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that farmers’ welfare is among the Government’s top priorities and it is leaving no stone unturned to make their lives as easy as possible. In a series of social media posts, Mr Modi said, farmers are the bedrock of the country’s food security, nutrition, and prosperity.
The Prime Minister highlighted that initiatives such as the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi and the Crop Insurance Scheme are not only safeguarding farmers’ incomes but also further strengthening the agriculture sector. He added that through the PM-KUSUM Scheme, farmers have gained access to solar energy for farming while also reducing associated costs.
Mr Modi highlighted that the Kisan Credit Card is proving extremely beneficial for farmers, livestock rearers, and fishermen by enabling easy access to loans at low interest rates for agricultural and other essential needs. He further mentioned that the Government’s “From Seed to Market” initiative is proving highly effective in ensuring fair prices for farmers’ produce. Mr. Modi emphasised that initiatives related to drones, soil health cards, and natural fertilizers are also helping farmers increase crop productivity.
The Prime Minister noted that the Government has consistently focused on providing farmers across the country with modern agricultural facilities.
Later, sharing a Sanskrit quote, Mr Modi said, agriculture is not merely a means of livelihood but the fundamental foundation for nourishing society and the nation. He added that when the sweat of the country’s farmers mingles with the soil, it transforms into grain that sustains the lives of the people.
