Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said Andhra Pradesh is moving ahead at a rapid pace and that the Centre is fully committed to realising the vision of Swarna Andhra and Viksit Bharat through large-scale infrastructure and industrial development.
Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, the Prime Minister said development projects worth about 18 thousand crore rupees, including airport, road and energy infrastructure, reflect the State’s fast-paced progress under the NDA governments at the Centre and in the State.
Mr. Modi described the new airport as the runway for the growth of Andhra Pradesh, particularly North Andhra, and a launch pad for the aspirations of the State’s youth. He announced that the airport has been named after freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju, saying the name would inspire future generations with the spirit of patriotism and public service.
The Prime Minister highlighted the rapid expansion of India’s civil aviation sector, stating that the number of operational airports has increased from 74 in 2014 to 166, while the UDAN scheme has made air travel affordable for ordinary citizens. He said the recently launched second phase of UDAN would further strengthen regional connectivity.
Mr. Modi said the Centre is transforming Andhra Pradesh into a major growth engine through ports, highways, railways and logistics under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. He said railway projects worth nearly one lakh crore rupees are under implementation, while more than 70 railway stations are being modernised.
Highlighting the State’s emergence as a future technology hub, the Prime Minister referred to the semiconductor project at Visakhapatnam, Google’s proposed AI and Cloud Infrastructure Campus, the upcoming Pharma Park at Nakkapalli and large investments in green energy. He said the Centre’s focus on infrastructure and investment would generate employment, strengthen manufacturing and exports, and improve people’s lives.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh would play a major role in achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu described the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram as a historic milestone that would transform North Andhra into a gateway for development, investment and employment. He said the airport, along with initiatives such as the proposed EduCity, would generate significant opportunities for the region’s youth and accelerate economic growth.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for helping rebuild Andhra Pradesh and transform North Andhra. He said the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram was a historic milestone that would bring investment, industries, jobs and new opportunities to the region. Thanking the farmers who gave their land for the project, he credited Prime Minister Modi and the NDA government for supporting major development projects. He expressed confidence that under Mr. Modi’s leadership, the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 would be achieved and called upon the youth of North Andhra to make use of the opportunities being created and contribute to the nation’s development.
