Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tribute to the great revolutionary and freedom fighter Mangal Pandey on his birth anniversary today. In a social media post, the Prime Minister said that Mangal Pandey laid down his life to uphold the pride and honour of the motherland. Mr Modi said that his courage and supreme sacrifice continue to fill every Indian with pride even today.
The Prime Minister added that Mangal Pandey’s saga of patriotism and valour will continue to inspire generations of the nation.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also have paid tributes to freedom fighter Mangal Pandey on his birth anniversary today. In a social media post, Mr Shah said that Mangal Pandey awakened the spirit of self-respect, cultural pride, and patriotism among the people by sounding the bugle of the Revolt of 1857.
He said that Mangal Pandey made the supreme sacrifice to free India from British oppression and injustice. The minister noted that the spark of revolution ignited by his sacrifice eventually grew into the great flame of India’s freedom struggle.
Meanwhile, Mr Singh said that Mangal Pandey’s fearless call to revolt against British rule ignited the spirit of patriotism across the country and inspired countless Indians to join the struggle for the nation’s freedom. He said that Mangal Pandey’s sacrifice, courage, and unwavering dedication to the nation will continue to inspire generations to serve the country and contribute to nation-building.
