PM Modi inaugurates Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre in Mysuru

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre Viveka Smaraka in Mysuru this evening. The memorial commemorates Swami Vivekananda’s historic visit to Mysuru in 1892 when he met Dewan of Mysore Sir K Sheshadri Iyer and received financial assistance from Mysore Maharaja Sri Chamarajendra Wadiyar for his journey to the USA to participate in the Parliament of Religions in Chicago. Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Prime Minister Modi said, Swami Vivekananda truly embodied the spirit of India. He highlighted that country’s youth are driving global growth.
 
Earlier, the Prime Minister was shown around the Viveka Smaraka where he paid flower tributes at the Swamy Vivekananda statue. He also sat in meditation and later planted sapling at the Smarak. Chief Minister of Karnataka D K Shivakumar, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and the President of Ramakrishna Math Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj were present on this occasion.
