Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed grief over the demise of the wife of former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda, Chennamma. In a social media post, Mr Modi said that Chennamma was admired for her humility and passion towards serving society. The Prime Minister added that in this hour of grief, his thoughts are with Mr Gowda and his entire family. 

 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that Chennamma embodied quiet strength, grace and unwavering commitment to her family, standing as a pillar of support through Mr Gowda ji’s long years of public service. Extending condolences to Mr Gowda, H. D. Kumaraswamy and the entire bereaved family, he prayed that the Almighty grant them strength to bear this irreparable loss.
