PM Modi calls for making Anganwadi system a people’s movement

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today shared an article written by Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi. In a social media post, Mr Modi said that the article, on 10 years of the Matru Vandana Yojana and Poshan Maah, highlights the message of making the Anganwadi system a people’s movement.

The Prime Minister also noted that the article underscores how Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), social audits and nutritious food are supporting children, women and adolescent girls. He added that the article notes that these efforts, guided by the vision of “Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Zimmedari”, are paving the way towards a malnutrition-free and Viksit Bharat.

In her article, the Women and Child Development Minister stated that Anganwadis are not a system separate from society; they are an integral part of the neighbourhoods. She also underscored that India’s fight for better child health must begin with maternal nutrition and care during pregnancy, not only after a child is born.
