Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia payment of 2 lakh rupees to the next of kin of each deceased in the accident in Kolkata yesterday, and fifty thousand rupees each to the injured. In a social media post, the Prime Minister expressed grief over the incident and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. Mr. Modi stated that the state government is working round-the-clock to ensure that the affected people receive all possible assistance.
