On increased fuel prices, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that as the world battled rising fuel costs after the West Asia conflict, India stood apart.

In a social media post, the Minister said that while several countries witnessed petrol and diesel hikes ranging from 20 percent to nearly 100 percent, India limited the increase to just plus 3.2 percent for petrol and plus 3.4 percent for diesel.

He said, even as brent crude crossed 100 dollars per barrel and global markets turned volatile, country’s public sector oil companies absorbed huge losses for weeks to protect citizens from inflation and economic pressure.

Mr Rijiju added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi India continues to balance economic stability with public welfare.
