Parliamentary Standing Committee reviews Mullaperiyar dam issue in Kerala

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources held an official meeting at Idukki in Keralam to review the ongoing Mullaperiyar dam issue. Committee Chairman and Lok Sabha MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy assured that the panel would equally consider the legitimate demands and concerns of both Keralam and Tamil Nadu.

Speaking after the high-level meeting held at Anachal in Idukki, Rudy stated that the discussions primarily centred around a dual agenda. The committee is focusing on two critical aspects: ensuring the absolute safety of the dam on one side and guaranteeing water availability on the other, he said, emphasizing a balanced approach to resolving the long-standing dispute.

Rajiv Pratap Rudy added that the panel would thoroughly evaluate the technical and legal arguments presented by both states before submitting its recommendations.
