Jeevan Mission (JJM) was launched on 15th August 2019 by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The scheme aims to provide every rural household with safe and adequate drinking water.
The Ministry of Jal Shakti has informed that more than 2 lakh villages have been ‘ Har Ghar Jal’ certified under its flagship program of Jal Jivan Mission (JJM).
The Ministry further highlighted that an exponential growth in the number of beneficiary households has occurred, from 3.23 crore at the time of launch to the present figure of 15.91 crore, marking a surge of 82.24 percent from 16.7 percent.
The Jal Shakti Ministry also underlined that more than 12.68 crore additional rural households have been provided with tap water connections, significantly improving access to safe drinking water across rural India.
