More than 1,850 candidates from different political parties have filed nominations for the upcoming ADC Village Committee elections in Tripura since September 1. According to State Election Commission data, CPI(M) has fielded 865 candidates, Tipra Motha 839, Congress 8, CPI 3 and IPFT 1, while five independent candidates have also submitted nominations. The last date for filing nominations is September 8.
In Unakoti district’s Chandipur block, Tipra Motha and CPI(M) candidates filed nominations today for four ADC villages-Singirbil, Mailung, Jamtailbari and Golakpur. Supporters of the parties gathered at the block premises, with police making extensive security arrangements. The four village committees have a total of 6,070 voters, 11 polling stations, 17 wards and 30 seats. Three sector officers have been appointed.
Returning Officer and Chandipur BDO Debapriya Das said all necessary administrative arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and peaceful election and appealed for cooperation from all concerned.
Meanwhile, in Bokafa block, 99 Tipra Motha and one CPI(M) candidate filed nominations. In Satchand, eight CPI(M) candidates submitted nominations, while in Jolaibari, six CPI(M), five Congress and 31 Tipra Motha candidates filed their papers.
