Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has accused the opposition of not participating in the discussion on important bills. Talking to media outside Parliament, Mr Rijiju said that in the Lok Sabha today, the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026 was passed but no member from Opposition parties took part in the discussion.
The Minister said, similarly, in the Rajya Sabha, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill 2026 was passed, but the opposition did not participate. Mr Rijiju added that the opposition members outside the parliament claimed that they are not being allowed to speak in the House, but when they are given the opportunity, they do not want to speak.
Meanwhile, Congress President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, demanded a statement from the Government in the House regarding the alleged police action against the students, who were protesting at Jantar Mantar on the NEET Paper leak issue. Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Mr Kharge said that the Home Minister Amit Shah should come to Parliament and make a statement regarding the issue.
