In Dhanbad one child was killed and half a dozen women including a child were injured in a case of land subsidence. Several houses were destroyed after land subsidence occurred, with large cracks appearing in the ground. 

 

Following the incident, angry local residents blocked the Sijua-Dhanbad main road and staged a protest. Baghmara MLA Shatrughan Mahto, who reached the spot, held the district administration and BCCL responsible for the land subsidence and attributed it to illegal coal mining.

 

Local residents have demanded that the administration and Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) immediately rehabilitate the affected families at a safe location and provide them with adequate compensation.
