Oman suspends crude oil loading at Mina al Fahal terminal following explosion

Oman has suspended crude oil loading operations at its key Mina al Fahal export terminal following an explosion near its offshore loading facilities. According to a media report, citing sources familiar with the matter, the blast occurred between the terminal’s two single-buoy mooring berths, SBM 1 and SBM 2, which are used for loading crude oil onto tankers.

The sources indicated that the explosion is believed to have been caused by a drone attack. However, Omani authorities have not officially confirmed the cause of the incident. Shipping data reviewed by Reuters showed several supertankers anchored off the port, suggesting that loading operations have been disrupted.

Mina al Fahal, located near Muscat, is Oman’s principal crude oil export terminal and handles the bulk of the country’s oil exports. The facility is considered strategically important to Oman’s economy and plays a significant role in global energy supply chains. Energy markets are closely monitoring the situation, as any prolonged disruption could affect the country’s export capacity.
