Twenty-one Indian crew members of the vessel MT Settebello have safely returned home following a tragic maritime incident off the coast of Oman. The Indian Embassy in Muscat, Oman today shared that the Ambassador interacted with the rescued crew members before their departure, conveyed his best wishes, and appreciated their resilience during the difficult ordeal. The Embassy reiterated its commitment to the welfare and safety of Indian nationals abroad.
The Palau-flagged MT Settebello was about 30 nautical miles off the coast of Sohar, Oman, when it came under attack. Following the incident, the Oman Maritime Security Centre was immediately informed, prompting Omani authorities to launch a Search and Rescue operation. While 21 Indian crew members were successfully rescued, three seafarers lost their lives in the tragic incident at sea.
