Global crude oil prices edged higher today as Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said that the Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until the US continues its naval blockade against Iran. Brent crude was trading 1.4 per cent up at 84 US dollars and 72 cents per barrel in intra-day trade. West Texas Intermediate crude was trading 1.1 per cent higher at 79 US dollars and two cents per barrel, when reports last came in.
