Odisha witnesses large-scale participation in International Yoga Day celebrations

As the nation marks the International Day of Yoga, Odisha has emerged as a vibrant centre of the celebrations, with thousands participating in yoga sessions across the state. The iconic world-famous Konark Sun Temple has become one of the country’s flagship venues for this year’s observance.

Odisha today joined the nationwide celebrations of the International Day of Yoga with enthusiasm and large-scale public participation. The iconic Konark Sun Temple, selected as one of the twelve distinguished heritage venues for this year’s observance, witnessed a grand yoga session attended by people from all walks of life.

Participating in the state-level celebrations at Bhubaneswar, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said yoga is an integral part of life and knows no age barriers. He urged the youth to devote at least thirty minutes daily to yoga, noting that excessive time is often spent on social media. Describing yoga as a complete art of healthy living, he said it is indispensable for physical and mental well-being.

Observed under the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’, the celebrations also mark the culmination of a week-long Yoga Festival and reinforce Odisha’s commitment to integrating yoga and wellness into education and community healthcare.
