Odisha continues to experience intense monsoon activity, with incessant rain triggering waterlogging, rising rivers and localised flooding in several districts. The situation is particularly concerning in southern and northern Odisha, where rising river levels and landslides have affected normal life and connectivity. With more heavy rainfall forecast by the IMD, authorities are maintaining close vigil in vulnerable and flood-prone areas.

Meanwhile, incessant rain over the past three days has disrupted normal life across several districts. Koraput has reported waterlogging, damage to houses and rising water levels in rivers and streams, while a large number of people are stranded in riverside villages in Nabarangpur as the Indravati and Bhaskel rivers rise. A landslide at Barabanka Ghat on NH-520 in Keonjhar has also affected road connectivity.

The Baitarani has crossed the danger level at Anandapur, while the Brahmani and Subarnarekha are rising. The Salandi is also witnessing a rise in water level. The Hirakud Dam is currently releasing water through 12 gates. Rainfall has been intense, with more than 100 millimetres recorded at several locations in the past 24 hours. Joda recorded the state’s highest 169.4 millimetres, followed by Papadahandi at 158.8 millimetres.
