Odisha continues to grapple with a rapidly escalating flood situation as swollen rivers inundate vast stretches, displacing thousands and disrupting normal life across several districts. With major rivers flowing above the danger mark and fresh breaches reported, the state administration has intensified rescue and relief operations.

The flood situation in Odisha has assumed alarming proportions, claiming at least four lives and affecting over two lakh people across six districts. According to the Special Relief Commissioner of Odisha, more than two lakh three thousand people in 748 villages have been affected, while nearly 28 thousand residents have been evacuated to safer locations.

As many as 226 villages remain marooned. Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Keonjhar are among the worst-affected districts. Seventeen teams of the NDRF and ODRAF have been deployed for rescue and relief operations.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall has also submerged a temporary bridge over the Tel River, disrupting connectivity between Umerkote and Raighar in Nabarangpur district.
