Odisha Floods Affect Over 13 Lakh People Across Seven Districts

Flood situation in Odisha remains grim, with over thirteen lakh people affected across seven districts, even as major rivers have now started showing a falling trend. More than 1700 villages across Baleshwar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendujhar, Kendrapara and Sundargarh districts have been affected.

 

So far, 4,87,000 people have been evacuated and accommodated in 880 relief shelters. Free kitchens are operational in affected areas, providing cooked food to nearly four lakh 96 thousand beneficiaries. Essential relief materials, including dry food and polythene sheets, are also being distributed. The state government is maintaining round-the-clock surveillance through the State and District Emergency Operation Centres. One hundred and twenty-six response teams have been deployed for rescue, relief and emergency operations.
