Nitin Desai’s last rites held in Mumbai in presence of family and friends

National Award-winning art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai’s last rites were held in Karjat near Mumbai in the presence of family and friends. 57-year-old Desai had allegedly committed suicide at his studio on Wednesday. He is survived by his wife, daughter and son.
 
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar paid their last respects to Desai at JJ Hospital in Mumbai. Several film celebrities were present at the studio to pay their respects.
 
Nitin Desai was well-known for his sets designed for movies, such as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Lagaan, Devdas, Jodhaa Akbar and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. He also designed the sets of TV show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and the pandal for Mumbai’s most popular Ganesh mandal ‘Lalbaugcha Raja’.
 
Mr. Desai had won four National Awards and three Filmfare Awards for his exquisite work.
