In Ukraine, at least nine people were killed and 22 others injured after Russia launched a massive overnight barrage of ballistic missiles and drones on the capital, Kyiv. According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, falling debris damaged a five-storey residential building in the Solomianskyi district, triggering a fire.
Rescue teams evacuated 35 residents from the upper floors. Two people were killed and eight others were injured in the district. In Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, seven people were killed and 14 others injured as the attack sparked fires and damaged residential buildings, vehicles, administrative offices and other non-residential structures.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he spoke with U.S. Vice President JD Vance and discussed his meeting with President Donald Trump earlier this week in Washington, which he described as positive and productive. The latest attack came just two days after another large-scale Russian missile and drone strike across Ukraine killed 10 civilians and injured more than 50 others.
