The National Investigation Agency’s special court in Jagdalpur has convicted all ten accused in the Jheeram Valley Maoist attack case under various charges. A total of eleven accused were tried in the case, of whom one died during the trial.
The court found all ten accused, including two women, guilty of the murder of twenty-nine people and the attempt to murder fifteen others. The order on the quantum of punishment has been reserved for September 16.
It may be recalled that in May 2013, Maoists attacked a convoy of Congress leaders in Jheeram Valley. 29 people including senior Congress leaders were killed in this dastardly attack. More than 15 people were also injured in the firing, which continued for about one and a half hours. The case was investigated by the National Investigation Agency.
