NIA Attaches Two Amritsar Properties in 500-Kg Heroin Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached two immovable properties in Amritsar belonging to accused Anwar Masih in connection with the six-year-old Salaya drug seizure case of 500-kg heroin smuggled from Pakistan to India through the sea route. The attachment proceedings were conducted yesterday.

According to the investigative agency, the investigation has revealed Masih’s involvement in a transnational narco-terror network extending across Italy, Australia, the UAE, Thailand, Iran and Pakistan. The network was engaged in the smuggling and distribution of narcotics and channelising the proceeds to finance terrorist activities linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

So far, 26 accused persons have been arrested in the case, and the investigation is continuing.
