National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognisance of a media report that a government primary school roof in Kiratpur of Darbhanga district in Bihar, continues to be temporarily supported by wooden benches, desks and bricks. Apparently, the main pillar holding the school had collapsed three to four months ago. NHRC said it is a risk to the safety of about 191 students and school staff.
The Commission has issued a notice to the Darbhanga District Magistrate, calling for a detailed report on the matter within two weeks.
