The National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of Karnataka over the reported death of seven migrant labourers when a massive granite rock fell on them at a quarry in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Taking suo motu cognisance of a media report, the commission has sought a detailed report in the matter within two weeks.

The Commission has observed that if the contents of the news report are true, then it raises a serious issue of violation of human rights. The incident took place last week in Bengaluru.
