National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken the initiative to install Retrofit Emission Control Devices (RECDs) on 25 Diesel Generator (DG) sets deployed at the 8.7-kilometre-long Package-IV of the Dwarka Expressway. The expressway connects Basai to Kherki Dhaula and Delhi-Gurugram Expressway cloverleaf intersection.
Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said that the initiative is being implemented in compliance with the directions of the Commission for Air Quality Management concerning the regulation of Diesel Generator sets in the NCR, with the objective of mitigating air pollution, particularly during the winter season under the Graded Response Action Plan. It said that the RECDs will be installed on DG sets used for the Expressway lighting and other associated operations, thereby strengthening emission-control measures during their operation.
