In Nepal, the death toll from the devastating flash floods has risen to 1,259, while more than 5,000 people remain missing more than a week after the disaster. According to Nepal Police, Chitwan recorded the highest number of recovered bodies at 355, including unidentified human remains, followed by Nawalparasi East with 218 and Nawalparasi West with 212.

Prime Minister Balendra Shah said the disaster’s link to climate change must be strongly raised with the international community, as symbolic funerals were held by families of locals still missing. Meanwhile, joint rescue teams led by the Nepal Army continue their search, and an Indian tunnel rescue team has established a base in Syabrubesi to speed up treacherous operations at the Chilime Power House alongside Nepali teams.
