Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has earned the trust of 140 crore people across the country within a short span of 20 years.
The Home Minister said this while addressing the President’s Colour award ceremony of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in Ghaziabad. Mr Shah said that wherever a disaster has occurred or is about to occur across the country, the people breathe a sigh of relief when NDRF personnel reach the spot.
He said that for any force receiving the President’s Colours honour is a matter of immense pride. Mr Shah added that the President has simultaneously acknowledged the disaster relief work of the NDRF, the SDRF, the Panchayat, the state machinery, the NCC, the NSS, and the thousands of aapada mitra engaged in service.
The Home Minister underlined that wherever the NDRF personnel have gone around the world, they have earned both love and the trust of people. Mr Shah also said that the twenty years of NDRF are not just 20 years of proud achievements but they have truly earned this honour from the President through their dedication and commitment to their duties.
The Home Minister said that the NDRF has trained more than eight thousand five hundred of its personnel, over 10 thousand civil defense personnel, and more than two lakh 20 thousand volunteers. He also informed that more than 10 thousand 500 sailors have also been trained over two years by NDRF. Mr Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India has provided global leadership in the field of ‘Disaster Resilient Infrastructure’.
He added that today 48 countries have become members of CDRI and are working together with India in this direction. The Home Minister underlined that India has today undoubtedly emerged as a global leader and first responder in the field of disaster management.
