The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is commemorating its 22nd Formation Day. The theme for this year’s Formation Day is “Risk Reduction in Action”, reflecting the collective endeavour towards translating disaster risk reduction policies, knowledge and preparedness measures into concrete action at all levels.

Addressing a gathering in New Delhi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Anuj Sharma, stressed the need for concerted efforts to achieve the goal of zero casualties from natural disasters. He said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has undergone significant transformation in disaster management, particularly in response, rescue and relief operations. He noted that fatalities caused by natural disasters have declined steadily in recent years.
