National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has sought a time-bound response over complaints regarding the denial of reservation benefits to Schedule caste candidates in the recruitment process for Lecturer posts in Punjab.
The Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry said that notice has been issued to the Chief Secretary of the Punjab, directing him to submit a report on the facts of the case, the action taken on the allegations, and all related records within seven days.
The NCSC has ordered inquiry into the matter connected to a representation from Member of Parliament Tarun Chugh wherein he has alleged non-implementation of the reservation policy in the recruitment of lecturers in the Punjab Education Department. Mr Chugh had alleged that Scheduled Caste candidates have been denied the benefits of reservation in the recruitment process for over one thousand Lecturer posts notified by the Department. NCSC Chairman Kishor Makwana said that denial of reservation benefits to Scheduled Caste candidates in the recruitment process for Lecturer posts is a very serious matter.
