The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is showcasing India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System, Namo Bharat, and its role in transforming mobility in the National Capital Region at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin. The international transport technology fair is being held from September 22 to 25.
The 82-kilometre Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, connecting Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi with Modipuram in Meerut, is being presented at the event.
The entire corridor became operational in February this year. The system aims to improve regional connectivity, reduce congestion and pollution, and provide wider access to employment and economic centres.
NCRTC Chairperson D Thara said regional rail can help distribute population beyond major cities by providing affordable and efficient connectivity. NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goel said Namo Bharat demonstrates India’s capability to develop advanced regional mobility solutions using new-age technologies. The corridor has crossed 4.5 crore passenger journeys and recently recorded its highest-ever daily ridership of over 1.68 lakh commuters.
