In Punjab, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Chandigarh Zonal Unit and Chandigarh Police, in a joint operation, have arrested a practising advocate with drugs from Kharar in Mohali. He was part of a drug trafficking network with links to a Pakistan-based drug syndicate.
According to official sources, the NCB team recovered Methamphetamine (Ice), Heroin and Poppy straws from his car when intercepted and later from his flat as well. The quantity of ICE was sixteen times more than the notified commercial quantity under the NDPS Act. A woman has also been arrested from his flat for facilitating and actively assisting in the commission of the offence.
Investigations carried out so far have revealed the existence of a well-organised and sophisticated drug module operating in Kharar.
