The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has disbursed over 3 crore rupees as Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) to 33 State Biodiversity Boards, Union Territory Biodiversity Councils and National Institutes. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change said that the release covers a diverse range of India’s agrobiodiversity, including tomato, chilli, brinjal and deep-frozen Sahiwal cattle semen.

It informed that cumulative ABS disbursements by the NBA have now exceeded 166 crore rupees. The Ministry also said that each release further strengthens the link between biodiversity conservation, scientific research and the livelihoods of the communities that conserve India’s rich biological resources.
