The nationwide Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath cleanliness drive is being conducted as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Campaign.
The objective of the campaign is to ensure cleanliness, improve sanitation and create awareness about hygiene and proper waste disposal among the general public.
Several Union Ministers, Chief Ministers and senior officials are participating in the cleanliness drive across the country.
The Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Campaign, which began on 17th of last month, will be observed till the 17th of October.
The theme of this year’s campaign is – Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat, underlines the role of collective participation and shared responsibility in advancing the vision of a Swachh and Viksit Bharat.
Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Paatil participated in a Shramdaan activity at Kalindi Kunj Ghat in New Delhi.
Talking to reporters, Mr Paatil said that cleanliness and water conservation are inseparable and emphasised the need to keep rivers clean. He said that treating rivers as garbage bins and dumping waste into them will pollute the water and adversely affect human life.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju attended the Swachhata Hi Seva programme at Peshwa Road Navyug School in the national capital. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has placed special emphasis on cleanliness and sanitation.
Mr Rijiju said that a cleaner India will lead to a healthier India. Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy also participated in the cleanliness drive in Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Reddy said, cleanliness is not just about cleaning but it should be a part of the behaviour.
A cleanliness drive was also organised at Pondy Marina Beach in Puducherry today under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan inaugurated the cleanliness drive and participated in the programme. College students, volunteers and officials took part in cleanliness activities.
Puducherry Legislative Assembly Pro-tem Speaker Anbalagan, Local Administration Department Secretary Vikrant Raja, Director Adarsh and other officials also participated in the drive.
