The government today announced that the population census will be conducted across the country, except in snow-bound and poll-bound states, from 25th of January to 28th of February next year. Home Ministry issued a notification declaring the census of population in all states and Union Territories except Manipur, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. A revisional round will be held from 1st to 5th March, 2027. There shall be an option for self-enumeration from 10th of January to 24th of January for the conduct of the census.
