Nagapattinam-Kankesanthurai ferry reduces fares, increases luggage allowance

The ticket fare for passenger ferry services from Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu to Kankesanthurai in Sri Lanka has been reduced from 6,000 rupees to 5,500 rupees per person.

The ferry service between the two countries began a couple of years ago. A total of 55,310 passengers have travelled to neighbouring Sri Lanka over the past two years.

Subam, the ferry operator, has also announced an increase in the luggage allowance from 10 to 30 kilograms per passenger. Each passenger can also carry up to seven kilograms of hand luggage. Sri Lanka is also a popular destination for spiritual tourism.

The shipping agency has said that the ferry service will operate on all days, except when services are suspended due to adverse weather conditions, as announced by the Regional Meteorological Department.
