Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri today said that with the commissioning of the Dergaon-Dimapur Pipeline, Nagaland is now connected to the North East Gas Grid and the National Gas Grid. In a social media post, Mr Puri said that the commissioning is a landmark step in making the North East a growth engine of India and will bring the region closer to a truly integrated gas-based economy.
The Minister said that the pipeline will enable the utilisation of over one lakh standard cubic metres per day of ONGC’s Jorhat gas, helping reduce gas flaring, substitute equivalent LNG imports and unlock hundreds of crores of value annually. He said that the commissioning will strengthen energy security, create new opportunities for industry, transport, households and power, and advance Atmanirbhar Bharat.
