The grand finale of the second edition of the National Skill Olympiad on Seafood Value Addition was held yesterday during Seafood Expo Bharat 2026 in Kochi. Organised by the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), the event showcased the skills of ten trained seafood processing professionals in preparing value-added seafood products for export markets.

MPEDA Concludes Second National Skill Olympiad on Seafood Value Addition at Seafood Expo Bharat 2026
P. Surya Bhaskar of Devi Fisheries Limited, Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, won the competition and received a cash prize of one lakh rupees. Muthu Kumaran of Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, secured the second position, while Sagarika Sardar of Kolkata and Barasarani Jena of Bhubaneswar finished third and fourth, respectively.
Ahead of the finale, MPEDA trained over 2,500 seafood processing workers through fifty training programmes conducted across India’s east and west coasts.
