MP begins wild buffalo reintroduction in Kanha after nearly a century; CM Mohan Yadav releases eight buffaloes

Efforts are being made to bring back wild buffaloes to their natural habitat in Madhya Pradesh’s Kanha Tiger Reserve after nearly 100 years. On Sunday, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav released eight wild buffaloes from a small enclosure into a larger enclosure spread over 17 hectares. These buffaloes were brought from Kaziranga National Park in Assam. They include six females and two males. They were first kept in a smaller enclosure to help them adjust to the local weather and environment. Now, preparations are being made to release them into their natural habitat. The government aims to bring a total of 50 wild buffaloes back to the Kanha region over the next three years.
