Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse has said that the government, through its programme ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’, aims to take preventive measures to ensure that young people do not face problems related to substance abuse. Khadse visited Saitual district yesterday and met heads of government departments and representatives of various sports associations.
Speaking at the meeting, she urged heads of government departments to take greater initiatives for the benefit of the people in their respective areas. She also called for stronger efforts to ensure that people derive greater benefit from various Central government schemes.
The Minister also discussed the need for joint efforts to further promote sports among young people and ways to take forward such initiatives. She praised the work being done in agriculture and horticulture in Kolasib district. She also extended her best wishes for the continued growth of various sports in the district and for further development of sports infrastructure.
