Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary, today launched the IndiaSkills Competition 2026-27, the country’s flagship skill competition. It aims at identifying and nurturing talented youth across 63 industry-relevant skill categories. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said that registrations for the competition have opened on the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH).
The competition will be held in phases from the district to the national level, with top performers earning the opportunity to represent India at global platforms, including the WorldSkills Competition. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chaudhary said IndiaSkills is a platform that transforms talent into opportunity and prepares young people with globally benchmarked skills to make them world-ready.
The Ministry said IndiaSkills has evolved into the country’s largest skill competition ecosystem since its launch in 2016. It added that India secured its best-ever 13th rank at the WorldSkills Competition 2024 and recently finished eighth at the WorldSkills Asia Competition 2025.
