Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting L. Murugan flagged off the newly constructed renowned heritage train, the Nilgiri Mountain Railway (Ooty Train), at Mettupalayam Railway Station which runs between Mettupalayam and Udhagamandalam. The train, which is the epitome of pride, will now operate on the picturesque route of Kunnur. This new development by the Indian Railways Department in its revamped form has been introduced to efficiently cater to the increasing number of tourists and to enhance their travel experience.

The inauguration of the new train marks the commencement of joyful journeys by enthusiastic passengers on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway. This will undoubtedly add to the allure of the Nilgiris district, which is famous for its scenic beauty. Continuing from there, the Union Minister opened the newly established centralised booking office at Mettupalayam Railway Station. This facility will serve as a comprehensive travel guide for passengers and visitors alike, enhancing their experience at the Mettupalayam Railway Station.
