The mortal remains of the 15 Indian tourists, who were killed in a speedboat accident off Vietnam’s Phu Quoc Island, have been brought back home.
According to the official X account of the Embassy of India, Hanoi, the mortal remains departed from Ho Chi Minh City by Vietnam Airlines flight VN 979 and arrived in Mumbai. It added that the state governments of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu will coordinate the transportation of mortal remains to their final destinations in the respective states.
Expressing sincere gratitude to Vietnamese authorities and the government, the Embassy said their prayers, efforts, and presence provided strength in this extreme hour of profound grief. In a tragic incident on Friday, a speedboat carrying 32 Indian tourists and four local crew members capsized off Phu Quoc Island, leaving 15 tourists dead. While 16 survivors have returned to India, one tourist remains hospitalized in Vietnam.
