Montenegro: Gunman kills 10 in Montenegro shooting spree; national mourning declared

In Montenegro, a gunman killed at least 10 people, including two children, during a shooting spree near the southern city of Cetinje yesterday. The attack began around 5:30 PM local time in Bajice village and spanned multiple locations. Among the victims were two children aged 10 and 13.

Police launched an hours-long manhunt, which ended when the 45-year-old suspect shot himself in the head after being surrounded.

The government has declared three days of national mourning starting today.

Although Montenegro, a Balkan nation of over 620,000 people, has an estimated 245,000 firearms in circulation according to the Small Arms Survey, mass shootings are rare.
