In Himachal Pradesh, monsoon activity continues to affect normal life with persistent rainfall at several places. Movement has been affected due to landslides and falling stones at several locations, while people are also facing problems related to power and water supply. The Meteorological Centre has issued an Orange Alert for heavy rainfall in six districts of the state during the next 12 hours.

 

Intermittent monsoon rainfall continues across most parts of Himachal Pradesh, affecting normal life in several areas. In view of the risk of landslides and falling stones due to heavy rains, the Mandi district administration has kept traffic completely suspended since last night on National Highway-21 between Mandi and Kullu, and National Highway-154 between Mandi and Jogindernagar.

 

According to the State Emergency Operations Centre, 204 other roads across the state are also blocked for traffic. Besides, 45 power transformers and 82 drinking water supply schemes have been affected.

 

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, has issued an Orange Alert for heavy rainfall in six districts – Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, Shimla, Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti for today.

The state government has appealed to people to remain vigilant, maintain a safe distance from landslide-prone areas, rivers and streams, and follow the advisories issued by the local administration from time to time.
