Modernisation of Indian Railways is progressing at a rapid pace: Union Minister Vaishnaw

Union Minister for Railways, IT and Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, has said that work is underway on a project to establish a rail network across the entire border region of Rajasthan. He said the project will not only provide railway connectivity to people living in the border areas but will also be strategically important from a national security perspective. He said that DPR of this project is being prepared. 
 
Mr. Vaishnaw was addressing a programme today before flagging off the Lalgarh-Sabarmati train from Bikaner railway station. He said that the modernisation of Indian Railways is progressing at a rapid pace across the country. Redevelopment and modernisation work is currently underway at 1,300 railway stations nationwide, including several stations in Rajasthan.
 
The Union Minister further stated that railway projects worth more than ₹76,000 crore are currently being implemented in Rajasthan. He noted that around 12 years ago, the state received a railway development budget of just over ₹650 crore, whereas railway development works in Rajasthan now receive annual investments of more than ₹10,000 crore.
 
Mr. Vaishnaw will flag off the Khatipura-Darbhanga Amrit Bharat Express from Khatipura Railway Station in Jaipur. He will also inaugurate the Mega Coaching Terminal at Khatipura and dedicate various passenger amenity facilities at railway stations across the state to the public.
