Moderate rain, thundershowers likely to continue across Jammu and Kashmir till August 7

Intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely to continue across Jammu and Kashmir till August 7, with the Meteorological Department warning of brief intense heavy showers, torrential rain, flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas of the Jammu division over the next few days.

Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that as per the weather department one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at most places today, mainly during the afternoon and evening. The weather office said a few places in the Jammu division could witness brief intense heavy showers or torrential rain.

On August 1, scattered places across the Union Territory are likely to receive a spell of light rain or brief thundershowers, accompanied by isolated intense showers. The MeT department has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places from August 2 to August 4, particularly during the afternoon/evening and early morning hours, with the possibility of heavy rain and brief intense showers or torrential rain over a few districts of the Jammu division.

From August 5 to August 7, scattered places are expected to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers with brief intense showers. The MeT department issued an advisory warning of heavy rain or brief intense heavy showers over a few districts of the Jammu division today, August 2 and August 3. It cautioned that torrential rain or brief intense heavy showers could trigger flash floods, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones at vulnerable locations, urging people and authorities to remain vigilant.
