Mizoram’s Living Museum at Falkawn has welcomed more than 9,600 visitors in its first year, putting the state’s rich cultural heritage in the spotlight.
Located at Zokhua-Mizo Typical Village, the museum marked its first anniversary today with a cake-cutting ceremony attended by Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Director Mina Zoliani Joute, Art & Culture Deputy Secretary Lalengvari, departmental officials and tourists.
Launched on 25 October 2025, the initiative is organised every Saturday by the Art & Culture Department.
It offers visitors a glimpse of traditional Mizo life through folk music, dance, indigenous games, local cuisine and traditional attire.
Around half of the visitors so far have come from outside Mizoram, highlighting the museum’s appeal beyond the state.
The initiative is run in collaboration with local organisations, including the Young Mizo Association (YMA), the Mizo Upa Pawl (MUP) and the Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP), and has received widespread appreciation for its role in preserving and promoting Mizo culture.
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has also praised Mizoram’s model and advised other states and Union Territories to replicate the initiative.
