Mizoram Governor reviews preparations for 73rd NEC Plenary Session in Shillong

Mizoram Governor Vijay Kumar Singh reviewed preparations for the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC), scheduled to be held on June 4 in Shillong. The meeting, held at Lok Bhavan today, focused on ensuring effective projection of Mizoram’s developmental priorities at the high-level regional forum, which will be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Governor underlined the Centre’s commitment to the overall development of the North Eastern region and directed all line departments to make coordinated efforts for the upcoming session.

During the review, Secretary of the Planning and Programme Implementation Department, David Lalthantluanga, presented details on follow-up actions taken on decisions from the last NEC Plenary held in Agartala in December 2024. He also briefed officials on the progress of ongoing projects under NEC funding and the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region schemes, including NESIDS Roads, NESIDS OTRI and PM-DevINE. Officials also finalised key issues and proposals to be raised in the plenary to accelerate Mizoram’s development and welfare initiatives.
